GEE is unsupported software
We will continue to host GEE for download in the hopes that it may still be useful, but due to funding issues and lack of developer resources, GEE will no longer be updated. Currenly installed copies should continue to work as long as the servers that GEE acquires data from remain unchanged, but no promises are made. Thank you.

Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) and Mavericks (10.9) users, might see a warning message that gee is "is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." or on Mavericks, you might see "can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." This is caused by GateKeeper, which prevents applications not from the Apple Store from running. To work around this:
- Open "Security & Privacy" in "System Preferences" (top row)
- Set "Allow apps downloaded from:" to "Anywhere" and confirm by pressing "Allow From Anywhere"
- run GEE again
- Once an GEE is successfully launched the first time, it no longer goes through Gatekeeper. So you can restore Gatekeeper settings to the default option "Mac App Store and identified developers" after successfully launching GEE the first time.
Mac users, in order to use the particle motion demonstration feature of GEE, you may need to download the Java 3-D and Java advanced imaging updates.
